From July 24 to 26, 2026, the Singapore leg of the 2026 Taekwondo Grand Slam Youth (GSY) World Club League will kick off in grand style at Our Tampines Hub in Singapore. Since last year, Singapore has actively bid for and successfully hosted this high-quality international youth tournament for two consecutive years, establishing itself as a key strategic hub for the GSY as it expands its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and builds its global footprint.
I. Breaking multiple competition records,Reaching the Peak of Taekwondo in Singapore
This year’s competition received an enthusiastic response from many countries and regions. According to official statistics from the organizing committee, the competition attracted 52 teams and 1,591 athletes from 12 countries and regions, including Singapore, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Macau, China, and Taipei, China. with a total of 2,353 event entries. The scale of the event reached new heights; not only was it the largest GSY tournament ever held outside of China in terms of scale, number of participants, and geographical coverage, but it also shattered multiple records for participant numbers and event scale in the history of taekwondo competitions in Singapore, establishing itself as a premier international youth taekwondo event of the highest caliber in Singapore.
The competition features five signature events: competitive sparring, poomsae, speed, breaking, and jump rope. To ensure the event is conducted to high standards and with strict adherence to regulations and meticulous attention to detail, the Organizing Committee has coordinated and allocated high-quality competition resources, setting up seven professional competition venues to host simultaneous events. An international team of referees from China, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Macau, China, Taipei, China, Cambodia, and Thailand has been invited to jointly officiate, ensuring fairness, impartiality, and orderly progress through a professional refereeing system. In addition, this year’s event features a dedicated qualification pathway: athletes who perform exceptionally well during the competition will earn the valuable opportunity to advance to the GSY Finals, where they will compete alongside the world’s top youth taekwondo athletes.

The event organizer, the World Taekwondo (Wuxi) Center, stated that Singapore, situated at the heart of the Asia-Pacific region, serves as a vital hub for the convergence and exchange of Eastern and Western cultures, as well as a fertile ground for the innovative development and widespread promotion of taekwondo. In GSY’s journey toward internationalization—from its domestic roots to the global stage, and from China to the rest of the world—Singapore has consistently held a key strategic position.
The event has been held in Singapore for two consecutive years, marking the culmination of a long-term, in-depth partnership and close collaboration between the two parties. Leveraging the Wuxi Center’s mature, full-industry-chain taekwondo ecosystem and global strategic footprint, the Singaporean partner—with its keen market insight and professional localized operational capabilities—is helping to promote China’s smart sports manufacturing and taekwondo industry standards beyond national borders, taking root in the Asia-Pacific region and advancing onto the international stage. This collaborative model not only achieves complementary resources and mutual commercial success but also deeply explores a replicable, one-stop “Taekwondo+” global promotion model for GSY by integrating multiple industrial dimensions, including event operations, technology R&D, sports and cultural tourism, education and training, and talent incubation.
