Taking Center Stage! Hechang Technology Empowers WT International Referee Training, Leading the Way in Global Competition Standards

2026-01-11

Recently, the World Taekwondo (WT) Permanent International Referee Selection and Training Camp for the Africa Region successfully concluded in Rabat, Morocco. Waychamp provided technical support throughout the event using its proprietary referee scoring system and training and examination software, establishing a precise practical training platform for 46 referees from four continents and ensuring the event’s successful completion.

This Rabat training camp, which focuses on interpreting the latest competition rules and selecting reserve referees for the Los Angeles Olympics, marks the first stop in the World Taekwondo Federation’s series of referee selection training camps across the five continents. Leveraging its deep expertise in sports competition technology, Hechang Technology provided comprehensive technical support for the scoring process throughout the event. Its scoring system is fully compatible with the World Fencing Federation’s latest rules, ensuring the quality of the training and the fairness of the selection process.

During the training, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) decided at the last minute to add specialized exam content to comprehensively assess the referees’ abilities. The on-site team from Hechang Technology responded swiftly and, drawing on their solid technical expertise, completed the development, debugging, and deployment of the exam module in just one hour, ensuring the smooth implementation of the new assessment.

Hechang Technology’s professional and efficient work has received international recognition. Philippe Bouedo, Chair of the Technical Committee of the World Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo), praised Hechang Technology’s team of engineers on-site, noting that their technical capabilities and efficiency far exceeded expectations. A report on the World Taekwondo official website also noted that Hechang Technology’s solutions significantly enhanced the quality of training, the reliability of evaluations, and the innovation of tools, laying a crucial foundation for the event’s success.

The success of this collaboration lays the foundation for closer cooperation between the two parties based on the referee scoring system. Subsequent World Taekwondo International Referee Selection and Training Camps in Europe (Spain), the Americas (Colombia), and Asia/Oceania (Kazakhstan) will continue to use Hechang Technology’s scoring system to ensure technical and standard uniformity across the global selection system.

It is worth noting that Hechang Technology’s protective gear products had previously received official certification from the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), making it the only provider in China—and the third in the world—to earn this distinction. The inclusion of this scoring system as a core component of international referee training represents a milestone breakthrough following the protective gear certification, signifying that its technical capabilities have been fully recognized in the realm of international competitions. This breakthrough bridges the gap between domestic and international competition standards, providing domestic professional events with a high-quality option aligned with international standards. It is expected to help domestic competitions at all levels adapt early to the environment of top-tier international events, promote the seamless integration of Chinese taekwondo with international standards, and establish a first-mover advantage in international competition.
