On September 12, the 2025 China Sports Culture Expo and China Sports Tourism Expo opened at the Suzhou International Expo Center. With the theme “Sports Empower a Better Life,” the expo covered a total area of 50,000 square meters. The Boxing and Taekwondo Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China spearheaded the creation of a joint exhibition hall for boxing, taekwondo, and karate. The joint exhibition area was jointly organized by the Boxing and Taekwondo Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Boxing Association, the Chinese Taekwondo Association, the Chinese Karate Association, the Tai’an Municipal Sports Bureau, the World Taekwondo (Wuxi) Center, and the Guangdong Provincial Taekwondo Association. Five Olympic (and World) champions—Chang Yuan, Li Qian, Zhao Shuai, Zheng Shuyin, and Gong Li, and featured live performances by three taekwondo and karate demonstration teams, as well as skill demonstrations by boxing teams, with humanoid robots further showcasing the power of technology.
Centered on the cultural heritage and historical continuity of boxing, taekwondo, and karate, the exhibition area has established a display system based on the principles of “culture as the root, experience as the bridge, and technology as the wings,” helping to revitalize traditional martial arts culture. Visitors can immerse themselves in performances by demonstration teams, engage with champions, and interact with humanoid robots. They can not only appreciate martial arts performances that “begin and end with courtesy” to gain insight into the culture’s deeper meaning but also experience the fusion of traditional techniques and modern technology through intelligent training systems.
Upon entering the exhibition area, visitors are immediately immersed in the “culture of etiquette.” Calligraphy walls on either side of the entrance feature inscriptions such as “Fist Power Fulfills Dreams,” “The Spirit of Taekwondo,” and “The Karate Manifesto”; every step reveals a new scene that serves as a tangible expression of each sport’s culture. Digital screens continuously display a cultural overview and competitive achievements of the three sports, guiding visitors through the historical development of each discipline.
The Honors Gallery displays 13 Olympic gold medals (replicas) and 5 gold medals from other international competitions, along with 25 international competition trophies. The “Moments of Glory” on the honor walls for the three disciplines—featuring Olympic and World Championship gold medals—embody the stories of perseverance and the splendor of martial arts. The exhibition booth features three main discussion areas—Cultural Cooperation, Integration of Sports and Education, and Competition Partnerships—along with virtual taekwondo experience equipment, Tsinghua University’s intelligent boxing assessment system, and interactive humanoid robots. Empowered by technology, these elements allow visitors to fully experience the charm of martial arts.
It is worth noting that the Taekwondo and Karate Demonstration Team made a stunning appearance at the opening ceremony. Guided by the spirit of “The Soul of Martial Arts: Etiquette, Righteousness, and Harmony—Taekwondo and Karate in Unison,” they skillfully interwove the fluid grace of Taekwondo poomsae and the powerful, incisive strikes of breaking demonstrations with the precise unison of Karate group forms and the exquisite detail of individual movements, ultimately distilling these elements into a spectacular opening spectacle that electrified the entire venue. It instantly ignited the enthusiasm of every audience member present, allowing the beauty of martial arts and the power of perseverance to blossom to the fullest in that moment.
The spectacular debut of the joint exhibition area for the Boxing and Taekwondo Center at the 2025 Two Expos not only provided a broad platform for the promotion and development of martial arts culture but also injected new vitality into the integrated development of sports culture and the sports industry, enabling more people to appreciate the unique charm and profound cultural value of martial arts. When high-tech elements such as AR technology and smart training systems deeply intertwine with martial arts culture—which has been passed down for thousands of years—the philosophy of “cultivating both martial skill and moral character” naturally permeates the hearts of visitors through interactive experiences. This not only propels boxing, taekwondo, and karate toward a new cultural landscape that harmoniously blends traditional charm with a contemporary spirit, but also, rooted in the spiritual core of “beginning and ending with courtesy,” and with technology-empowered innovation as its wings, it redefines the cultural mission of martial arts within the national fitness movement, breathing new life into ancient martial arts in the modern era and continuing to write new chapters in the inheritance of sports culture and industrial development.
